Training on imparting education on Fire & Road safety
to 8 selected teachers of primary schools in Vientiane 17 May 2003
Teachers from 8 primary schools of four target districts
in Vientiane Municipality were invited to incorporate new curriculum on urban
disasters which focus on fire & road safety prevention & protection. The
new curricula was developed by National Research Institute for Educational
Sciences under Ministry of Education along in collaboration with NDMO and ADPCís
DRP-CLV Project. A total of 40 teachers of grade 3 to grade 5 of primary
schools from Xaysetha, Sisathanak, Sikhottabong and Chanthabury districts
participated in the one-day training.
The participating teachers were oriented towards how to
teach on Urban Fire & Safety Road to the students. The resource persons of
the training course were from National Research Institute for Educational
Sciences under Ministry of Education. Mr. Phetsavang PAJUNPHAY covered urban
fire issues while Ms. Kuey KANGPHACHANPHENG covered Road Safety topics.
The opening ceremony of the training was attended by Mr.
Phetsavang SOUNNALATH, Director of NDMO, Ministry of Labour & Social
Welfare, and representatives of Vientiane Municipality Education Office and
District Education Office.
Later on 21st to 22nd May 2003, the
monitoring teams went down to 8 primary schools to follow their action of
teaching at school from grade 3 to grade 5 of each school. The team observed that
results were satisfactory.
